Founder Gerry Gregoire

Hi, I'm a Co-founder of Streetwise.

I had first-hand knowledge of social disadvantage and low self-esteem dynamics from my upbringing.

That has been a distinct benefit in my role as a Specialist Mentor.

I believe all young people have the potential to achieve their goals however, these aspirations are readily dashed by negative external influences operating in their lives.

I transitioned from an engineering career to Youth and Community Practitioner BA (Hons) in 2008.

My favourite project from the 100s we've completed has been the Anti-bullying project.."Who r u 2 judge me" allowing youths to compile a powerful music video and shown it to thousands of young people.

Winning the lifetime achievement award this year has allowed me to reflect on the impact we have made!

Founder/MD Elaine Gregoire

Hi, I’m Lainey Gregoire, co-founder and MD of Streetwise. What started 20 years ago as a small youth club has grown into an award-winning charity that not only supports young people but now serves a wider community.

Alongside my husband Gerry, I’m also a foster carer, and it’s incredible to make a difference in people’s lives every day. I’ve been honored to receive awards like Woman of the Year, an honorary citizenship, and even an invitation to Buckingham Palace—recognition that reflects how much our community values Streetwise and its work.

With our new purpose-built community center, we’re meeting more needs than ever and making a greater impact. After celebrating 20 years, we’re ready to expand and excited for what’s next for Streetwise.

Director of Communications
Ella-Grace Gregoire

Hi, I’m Ella-Grace.
I’m dedicated to shaping the future of Streetwise and maximizing its impact. Since joining in 2002, Streetwise has enriched my childhood through incredible experiences like trips to London and dance competitions.

In 2018, I founded EGG Performing Arts and Wellbeing to offer affordable classes. My journey with bullying and mental health recovery inspired me to evolve EGG into a mental health education hub, focusing on tools for holistic well-being. Now leading the Teen Wellbeing program, I’ve been honored with awards like the Virgin Young Changemakerand 25 Under 25.

I’m excited to represent Streetwise and continue driving positive change.

I'm Daniel, Originally from Dorset, I moved north for an apprenticeship and now work as an aerospace design engineer. On Monday evenings, you'll find me supporting the Youth Club, where I organize a range of activities; from energetic sports like dodgeball to more relaxed options such as pool or chess. I also help run the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) club, where I aim to make learning both engaging and inspiring. I look forward to helping young people at Streetwise explore new interests, build confidence, and discover the exciting world of engineering.

Aaron Myers

My name is Aaron and I have been part of Streetwise for the last 12 years honestly, I couldn't imagine how my childhood could have been without it! I loved this organisation so much, I decided to volunteer when I was old enough. Streetwise has given me so many opportunities like being able to study my youth work course and become a qualified youth worker. It is through Streetwise I've been able to find my passion for helping young people and being a mentor for them.

Holly

Hi I’m Hollie, I started at streetwise in 2022 when I attended the outreach group. I have attended the youth group and well-being group since then and have now volunteered here for two years. Through my involvement at streetwise I have found my confidence levels and my self esteem has increased massively. I have also found I have managed to control my anxiety a lot more. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without streetwise. It is streetwise that has helped me achieve the goal of helping children have good confidence and positive self esteem.

Danielle Ofori-Nyarko

I'm Danielle Ofori-Nyarko, also known as Danni or D. Growing up in Warton, I attended St. Paul's Primary and Carr Hill High School, where I developed a strong sense of community and a passion for helping young people achieve their goals.

With a degree in sports coaching and performance science, plus Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications, I've dedicated over three decades to fitness. Working in outreach programs like Streetwise has allowed me to connect with teenagers, inspired by my mentor Gerry, who has guided me since I was 16.

I have also completed Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) training, enhancing my ability to connect with and motivate young people by understanding the psychological aspects of fitness.

My athletic journey includes placing 10th at the British Championships for weightlifting in 2019 and achieving podium finishes in amateur strongwoman competitions. I also won a charity boxing match, showcasing my dedication to personal growth.

My mission is to inspire young people to see fitness as key to their well-being, offering guidance and support to help them overcome challenges and celebrate their successes.

I'm Jo, and I have a background in both secondary and primary education, particularly in SEN support roles.

As a qualified holistic creative therapist, I am passionate about the transformative power of therapeutic art.

Through my involvement with Streetwise, I support Ella's inspiring teenage wellbeing group by providing art journaling sessions. These sessions focus on themes such as self-esteem, trust, friendship, confidence, and resilience, offering young people a safe space to express themselves.

I also facilitate a monthly art club for Streetwise, based at Hope Street Pavilion  It brings me immense joy to see the emotional growth, connection, and creativity that art brings.

Dom Hancock

I joined Streetwise in June 2023 as a volunteer for the Monday night youth club. Since September 2024, I've been leading the STEM club alongside Dan and Gerry. My passion for STEM began as a child, when I attended similar events that sparked my curiosity and eventually led to a career in engineering. Now, I'm excited to give back by inspiring the next generation through fun, hands-on activities that build skills and confidence. My goal is to help children explore the exciting possibilities within STEM and open doors to careers they might not have considered. Seeing their enthusiasm and growth is truly rewarding.
